Dosage

The choice of the dosage of the sucking tablet depends on the smoker's smoking habits.

Adults

NICORETTE FRUITS 2 mg is indicated for smokers with low nicotine dependence, i.e. smoking their first cigarette beyond 30 minutes after waking or smoking 20 cigarettes or less per day.

Sucking tablets should not be used beyond 9 months. If patients still feel the need for treatment, it is recommended that they seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Advice and support will improve the chances of success.

Complete cessation of smoking

Patients should stop smoking completely during treatment with NICORETTE FRUITS 2 mg chewable tablet.

Use the chewable tablets whenever the urge to smoke arises.

A sufficient number of sucking tablets should be used each day and most smokers should use between 8 and 12 sucking tablets, but never more than 15 sucking tablets.

The duration of treatment is individual, but up to six weeks of treatment is needed to break the smoking habit. Nicotine doses should then be gradually reduced, decreasing the total number of sucking tablets used per day. Treatment should be stopped when the use of sucking tablets is reduced to 1 or 2 tablets.

Suck on a pacifier tablet each time the urge to smoke arises to maintain complete abstinence from tobacco.

Keep a supply of sucking tablets on hand in case of a sudden urge to smoke.

Gradual reduction before quitting completely

For smokers who don't want to or can't quit suddenly.

Alternate sucking tablets with cigarettes to reduce cravings, prolong cigarette-free time and with the intention of reducing cigarette consumption as much as possible

The number of sucking tablets per day is variable and depends on the needs of the patient. However, it should not exceed 15 per day.

If a reduction in daily cigarette consumption has not been achieved after 6 weeks of treatment, it is recommended to seek advice from a health professional.

The reduction in tobacco consumption should gradually lead the patient to stop smoking completely. This should be attempted as soon as possible within 6 months of starting treatment.

When the number of cigarettes has been sufficiently reduced and the patient feels able to quit permanently, the dosage for complete cessation is described above.

If after 6 months of treatment, the attempt to stop smoking completely has failed, it is recommended to seek advice from a health professional.

Pediatric population

NICORETTE FRUITS 2 mg should only be used in adolescents (12 to 17 years of age inclusive) on the advice of a physician. NICORETTE FRUITS 2 mg is not recommended for use in adolescents under the age of 12 years.

The safety and efficacy of NICORETTE FRUITS 2 mg Sucking Tablets in children and adolescents have not been studied.
