Composition of the medicine ELUDRIL collutory

Contraindications of the drug ELUDRIL mouthwash

This medicine should not be used in the following cases:

  • allergy to local anesthetics,

  • children under 6 years of age.

Attention

If there is no improvement after 5 days, if there is pain when swallowing or if a fever appears, consult your doctor. He will be able to distinguish between pharyngitis and angina. In case of bacterialangina, an antibiotic treatment is necessary in order to avoid later complications, cardiac or renal.

Prolonged use of local antiseptic treatments(gargle, mouthwash, lozenge) is not advisable; it can modify the natural microbial balance of the throat.

Overuse could lead to the passage of the localanaesthetic into the bloodstream and cause nervous and cardiac problems: respect the dosage.

Attention : sportifSports: local anaesthetics have been removed from the list of doping substances published in the decrees of 20 April and 16 August 2004 by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Interactions of ELUDRIL Mouthwash with other substances

It is generally unnecessary to combine different antiseptics. These may be contained in many products available for self-medication: lozenges, mouthwash and nasal solution; ask your pharmacist for advice.

Fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding

The effect of this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not well known. The assessment of the possible risk associated with its use is individual: ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice.

Instructions for use and dosage of ELUDRIL Mouthwash

Sprays should be taken at least 4 hours apart.

Usual dosage :

  • Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 spray, 3 to 5 times a day.

  • Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 spray, 2 or 3 times a day.

Advice

This medicine may be available over the counter in some pharmacies; however, do not hesitate to ask your pharmacist for advice.

In young children, the spray may cause a spasm of the larynx: do not insert the nozzle too deeply into the mouth.

Avoid using this medicine before meals: the localanaesthetic may cause swallowing problems, which may result in food passing into the airways.

Possible side effects of ELUDRIL Mouthwash

Allergic reaction.

Temporary numbness of the tongue.

Brown discolouration of the tongue and teeth which disappears when the treatment is stopped.
