Imodium duo is an anti-diarrhoea medicine, it is a short-term treatment for acute diarrhoea with spasmodic pain, bloating and flatulence.

The tablets contain two active ingredients:

- Loperamide hydrochloride, which helps to reduce diarrhoea by slowing down the intestinal transit. It also helps to increase the absorption of water and salts from the intestine.
- Simeticone, which works by facilitating the coalescence of gas bubbles in the intestine that cause bloating and spasmodic pain.

Reserved for adults and children over 12 years

Composition :

The active ingredients are:

The other ingredients are:

Calcium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous, microcrystalline cellulose, acesulfame potassium, artificial vanilla flavouring (containing: propylene glycol, maltodextrin and benzyl alcohol), sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A) and stearic acid

Dosage:

Unless your doctor has told you otherwise, follow these instructions:

Adults (18 years and older):
Start by taking 2 tablets for the first dose, then if diarrhea continues, take 1 additional tablet after each loose stool. Do not exceed 4 tablets per day. If you do not feel better after 2 days of treatment, stop the medicine and contact your doctor.


Adolescents 12 to 18 years :
Start by taking 1 tablet for the first dose, then if diarrhoea continues, take 1 more tablet after each loose stool. Do not exceed 4 tablets per day. If you do not feel better after 2 days of treatment, stop the medicine and contact your doctor.

Do not give the tablets to children under 12 years of age.

If you have taken more IMODIUMDUO® , Tablet than you should have :

Too many tablets may make you feel sleepy or make it difficult to think or do normal activities. Your muscles may stiffen or you may have difficulty breathing. You may have a dry mouth or your pupils may narrow.
You may experience abdominal pain, heartache or vomiting, constipation or difficulty in urinating.

If you have taken too many tablets, seek advice from a doctor or hospital.

If you forget to take IMODIUMDUO® , tablet:
Take one tablet after your next loose stool. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.
If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Never take IMODIUMDUO® , tablet:

- in children under 12 years of age,
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substances or to any of the other components contained in Imodiumduo® , tablet,
- if you have a high fever (i.e. above 38°C) or if there is blood in your stools,
- if you have chronic bowel or colon disease, especially during acute flare-ups of ulcerative colitis,
- if your diarrhoea occurs after taking antibiotics,
- if you are constipated or have abdominal swelling.


Be careful with IMODIUMDUO® , tablet:

- IMODIUMDUO® , tablet treats only the symptoms of diarrhea. In some cases,
the cause of the diarrhea needs to be treated, if symptoms persist or worsen, contact
your doctor.
- If you have severe diarrhea, your body loses more fluid, sugars and salts than normal. You will need to rehydrate by drinking more fluid than usual. Ask your pharmacist for advice on rehydration solutions that compensate for the loss of fluids, sugars and salts.
- If you have the AIDS virus and your belly swells, stop the treatment immediately and contact your doctor.
- If you have liver disease, check with your doctor before taking this
medicine. Some of the side effects may be more troublesome.

Taking other medicines:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines including:

- Quinidine (used to treat heart rhythm abnormalities and malaria)
- Itraconazole (an antifungal drug)
- Gemfibrozil (used to treat high cholesterol)
- Ritonavir (used to treat HIV infections and AIDS)

If you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, talk to your doctor or pharmacist as Imodiumduo® may interact with them.

Pregnancy:
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Breast-feeding:
Do not take Imodiumduo® , tablet if you are breast-feeding. Small amounts of the drug may be found in your milk.

Driving and using machines:
You may drive or use machines unless you feel tired, dizzy or sleepy.
