Description:
Its active substance is calcium carbonate dosed at 1250.00 mg for one tablet, corresponding to a calcium quantity of 500.00 mg
Its other components are xylitol, povidone, orange flavouring (itself composed of isomalt, orange flavouring, mono- and di-glycerides of fatty acid, ethanol 96%), magnesium stearate, sucralose and purified water
DOSAGE OF OROCAL 500 MG
The dosage indicated for adults in case of general calcium deficiency and osteoporosis is 2 to 3 tablets per day.
For children, in case of calcium deficiency during growth, the recommended dosage is 1 to 2 tablets per day depending on height and weight.

CONTRAINDICATIONS TO THE USE OF OROCAL 500 MG
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Orocal 500 mg must not be used if you are allergic/hypersensitive to its active substance or to any of the other ingredients.
It should also not be used if you have hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, calcium lithiasis (or kidney stones), tissue calcifications, or in the event of prolonged immobilisation accompanied by hypercalciuria and/or hypercalcaemia
In the event of prolonged treatment, regular monitoring of the calcium level in the urine should be carried out, since, depending on the results, your doctor may have to reduce or even interrupt the treatment
Blood and urine calcium measurements should be taken regularly if this medicine is combined with vitamin D
It is recommended to postpone calcium intake in case of treatment with sodium fluoride
In case of treatment with digitalis, the administration of calcium, especially if combined with vitamin D, needs to be monitored. You should therefore consult your doctor or cardiologist in order to draw up a monitoring schedule
It is advisable to delay taking this medication for at least 3 hours if you are taking oral tetracyclines.
Orocal 500 mg is formulated with isomalt, making it unsuitable for use in patients with fructose intolerance.
In order to avoid possible interactions between several drugs, inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other current or recent drug treatment.
Under normal conditions of use, Orocal 500 mg can be used during pregnancy and while breastfeeding
During pregnancy and breast-feeding, it is advisable to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine
