This disinfectant based on povidone-iodine (10%) is also used for the local treatment of skin and mucous membrane infections or at risk of infection, but also for the antisepsis of the operating field.
Betadine should not be used on infants under 1 year of age and medical advice should be sought for children under 30 months of age.
It can be used pure by simply brushing the skin or diluted to the tenth for washing wounds.
For the irrigation of wounds, 2 volumes of Betadine Dermal for 98 volumes of saline.
Dermal Betadine should not be used for disinfecting equipment and should not be combined with other antiseptics, particularly those derived from mercury.
If used repeatedly, yellow Betadine can pass into the bloodstream, particularly in the case of damaged or weakened skin. Particular attention should be paid to patients with kidney failure, especially burn victims.

ALLERGY TO IODINE
There is no cross-allergy between Betadine and iodinated contrast media or seafood. Intolerance reactions to either are not a contraindication to the use of Betadine as a disinfectant. However, a known allergy to povidone prohibits the use of this iodinated antiseptic.
BETADINE AND PREGNANCY
Due to the presence of iodine, the repeated use of Betadine is not recommended from the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. It may be used occasionally and only on the advice of your doctor
The same applies to breastfeeding.
STORAGE OF BETADINE
After opening, Betadine solution can be kept for 6 months. Remember to close the bottle tightly and keep it at a maximum temperature of 25°C.
