Description:
The active ingredients of this medicine are calcium carbonate at 500 mg and cholecalciferol at 1000 IU (25 micrograms).
DOSAGE OF OROCAL 500 MG/1000 IU
The recommended dosage for Orocal 500 mg/1000 IU is 1 chewable tablet per day. This medicine is not approved for use in children and adolescents.
PRECAUTIONS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS
Check that you are not allergic to any of the active ingredients or components of the formula before taking Orocal 500 mg/1000 IU. It is also not to be taken if you suffer from severe kidney disorders or stones or if your blood levels of calcium and vitamin D are sufficient.
A medical opinion is in any case essential for any prescription, and more particularly if you are subject to a long-term treatment, if you take diuretics (frequent in case of hypertension) or digitalis (in case of cardiac disorders). The same applies if you have immune diseases that can increase the level of vitamin D in the blood, such as sarcoidosis, or if you take other calcium and vitamin D products.
If you have osteoporosis but are immobilized, medical advice is also needed.
Orocal 500 mg/1000 IU is compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding, but only on medical advice. Indeed, an overdose could have a negative impact on the unborn or breast-fed child, because the maternal milk naturally contains calcium and vitamin D.
