Description:

In fact, it contains 100 mg of aspirin (or acetylsalicylic acid). By this dosage, it acts only on the platelets of the blood by decreasing the coagulation of this last. Thus, it promotes circulation, preventing the formation of blood clots

It belongs to a class of drugs called platelet aggregation inhibitors

Your doctor may decide to combine this treatment with others if he or she thinks it is necessary. You should not use this medicine when starting treatment without first consulting your doctor.

Aspirin protect 100 mg, gastro-resistant tablet is not recommended in emergency situations; it is reserved for maintenance treatment following the management of emergency situations

The active substance is acetylsalicylic acid, 100 mg per tablet

The other components of the formula are corn starch and cellulose powder

The composition of the film coating is as follows: copolymer of methacrylic acid and ethyl acrylate 1 : 1, polysorbate 80, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, triethyl citrate.

DOSAGE OF ASPIRIN PROTECT 100 MG, GASTRO-RESISTANT TABLET

This medication should only be given on prescription

You should not start this treatment without the agreement of your doctor

Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take each day and at what time of day

You must always take the dose recommended by your doctor

The generally recommended dose is 1 to 3 tablets per day, to be swallowed whole with a glass of water, preferably before meals

The tablets should not be crushed, chewed or crunched because of the gastro-resistant coating

In the elderly, the recommended dose is the same as for adults in the absence of severe kidney or liver disease such as severe renal or hepatic impairment

The elderly are more susceptible to adverse effects, therefore acetylsalicylic acid should be used with caution and treatment should be reviewed regularly

Acetylsalicylic acid should not be given to children and adolescents under 16 years of age, except on medical advice, when the benefit outweighs the risk

The duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor. You should not use this medication for a prolonged period of time without the approval of your doctor

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. In case of overdose (including accidental overdose in very young children or the elderly) you should seek medical advice immediately, as overdose can be fatal

The first signs of an overdose are symptoms such as dizziness, headache, ringing in the ears, hearing problems (feeling of decreased hearing)

A large overdose can cause fever, hyperventilation, respiratory failure, serious metabolic disorders, shock (cardiovascular collapse) or coma

In children, an overdose of 100 mg of aspirin per kg of body weight or more in a single dose can result in death

Symptoms may include increased body temperature and excessive sweating which may lead to dehydration, convulsions, agitation, hallucinations and hypoglycaemia

Damage to the central nervous system may result in shock (cardiovascular collapse), coma and respiratory arrest

The patient should be transferred to a specialized hospital as a matter of urgency

If you miss a dose of Aspirin protect 100 mg gastro-resistant tablet, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is time for your next dose. You should not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose

Treatment should not be stopped until your doctor tells you to, unless side effects occur, in which case consult your doctor promptly

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF ASPIRIN PROTECT 100 MG GASTRO-RESISTANT TABLET

Aspirin protect 100 mg gastro-resistant tablet has many contraindications, special warnings and precautions for use. Please refer to the package insert to know all the information about this medicine before using it

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic/hypersensitive to the active substance or any of its components, to a related medicine (especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs), or if you have had asthma caused in the past by taking aspirin or a medicine of the same family.

It should also not be used if you have an ulcer of the intestine or stomach that is progressing, digestive bleeding such as vomiting blood, or blood in the stool/black stool, severe bleeding (bleeding disease), or if your doctor has identified a risk of bleeding in you, if you have had a hemorrhagic stroke or a drop in platelet count in the past, if you have severe heart disease that is not controlled, or severe liver or kidney disease, and from the 6th month of pregnancy.

Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you are allergic to other painkillers and/or anti-inflammatory drugs, if you have (or have had) asthma or a cold caused by an allergy such as hay fever. Your doctor will take this into account and may set up a medical follow-up, especially in the case of asthma, colds, polyps in the nose, or a long-term disease of the bronchi and/or lungs

You should also tell your doctor if you have taken painkillers (painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs) in the past, if you have ever experienced stomach discomfort or heartburn, if you have ever had an intestinal ulcer, stomach ulcer or gastritis, if you are taking certain medicines, if you have high blood pressure, if you have heavy periods, a hereditary red blood cell disease (also known as G6PD deficiency), or if you are breast-feeding

This is because this medicine can cause Reye's syndrome, a rare but very serious life-threatening condition involving neurological and liver damage in adolescents and children who have viral diseases such as chickenpox or flu-like illnesses, when taking aspirin.

Tell your doctor immediately if your child is taking Aspirin protect 100 mg, Gastro-resistant tablet and experiences this type of effect

You should tell your doctor, anaesthetist or dentist if you are using this medicine for even minor surgery

Aspirin increases the risk of bleeding, even when used in very low doses, and even when the medication was taken several days ago

To avoid the risk of overdose, you should not take other medicines containing aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) at the same time as Aspirin protect 100 mg gastro-resistant tablet.

Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you are using a blood-thinning drug (thrombolytics, anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents), anagrelide, methotrexate in doses exceeding 20 mg per day, another medicine containing aspirin, or a medicine of the same family as aspirin, a medicine for depression, a medicine that treats heartburn and acid reflux, or a medicine to treat gout

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other recent or current medications, even if they were obtained without a prescription

Alcohol or alcoholic beverages should be avoided, especially if you have ever had digestive bleeding, or if you have inflammation of the stomach or esophagus

Aspirin protect 100 mg gastro-resistant tablet should not be used during the first 5 months of pregnancy unless absolutely necessary and only if your doctor considers it necessary. In this case, the dose should be as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible

From the 6th month of pregnancy, you should not use this medicine under any circumstances. The effects of this medicine can have serious consequences for you and your child (especially for the heart, lungs and kidneys) in a single dose

Aspirin protect 100 mg gastro-resistant tablet passes into breast milk. Therefore, breast-feeding is not recommended
