Description:

BI FLUORINE DENTIFICATION PASTE 250mg MINT 125ML FLUOCARIL guarantees healthy teeth and a fresh mouth

The effects of fluorine are of 3 types:

- a bactericidal effect on the germs of the dental plaque. The consequences are an inhibition of the bacterial proliferation of the dental plaque and an inhibition of the formation of cariogenic acids,

- a decrease in the solubility threshold of enamel in an acid environment,

- remineralisation of the initial carious lesions of the enamel.

ADVICE FOR USE

Local use. Do not swallow.

Carry out daily careful brushing:

- 3 times a day, after each meal,

- in a vertical direction from the gum to the tip of the tooth.

A thorough brushing lasts about 3 minutes.

Special warnings

- The local use of fluoridated toothpastes or fluoridated mouthwashes is compatible with general fluoride intake; it reinforces the protection of the tooth against caries.

- However, the multiplication of potential sources of fluoride can lead to fluorosis. In order to avoid accumulation, it is essential to draw up a personalised assessment of intakes (tap and mineral water, fluoridated salt, medicines in the form of tablets, drops, chewing gum or fluoridated toothpaste) before any fluoride prescription.

- In the overall calculations of the recommended fluoride ion intake (0.05 mg fluorine/kg/day for all fluoride intakes combined and not exceeding 1 mg/day), the possible doses of toothpaste ingestion (60 to 30% between 3 and 7 years of age) must be taken into account, which will vary according to age and the concentration of the paste used.

- The maximum recommended content of toothpaste for children under 6 years is 500 ppm fluoride (50 mg/100 g). The amount to be used should be the size of a pea and children should spit out the toothpaste well.

From the age of 6, children can use toothpastes with a dosage of 1000 to 1500 ppm (100 to 150 mg/100 g).

Overdose

- Acute intoxication:

In adults or children, the toxic dose is 5 mg of fluorine/kg (minimum dose that can induce the symptoms of intoxication).

It is manifested by digestive disorders: vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and can exceptionally lead to death.

In case of accidental ingestion, the immediate treatment consists of stomach pumping or induced vomiting, ingestion of calcium (large quantity of milk) and medical surveillance for several hours.

- Chronic intoxication: fluorosis

Mottled or speckled aspect of the dental enamel that can appear from a daily intake of a dose of fluorine higher than 1.5 mg/day (0.10 mg of fluorine/kg/day in children up to 6 years old), for several months or years depending on the extent of the overdose. It is accompanied by enamel fragility in severe forms.

Bone fluorosis is only observed with high chronic intakes (above 8 mg/d).
