The Clearblue Plus pregnancy test is over 99% reliable from the presumed date of menstruation.
When you become pregnant, your body begins to produce the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). The concentration of hCG in your body doubles approximately every 2 to 3 days, reaching its peak after 7 to 12 weeks of pregnancy. It remains higher than normal for the rest of the pregnancy, and up to 3 weeks after birth.
The Clearblue PLUS pregnancy test detects the pregnancy hormone in your urine with over 99% reliability when used from the expected date of your period. You can take the test up to 4 days before your expected period, but if you get the result "Not pregnant", you should take a new test from your expected period. The pregnancy hormone level in your urine may not yet be high enough to be detected.
The color-changing control rod and control window reassure you that the test is working correctly.

Clearblue recommends that you take the test on your expected menstrual period. However, the Clearblue PLUS pregnancy test can be used as early as 4 days before your expected period.
Please note that if you perform the test before your expected period and obtain the result "Not pregnant", it's still possible that you are pregnant, but that hormone levels are still too low to be detected.
If you run the test again 3 days later and get the result "Not pregnant", even though you still haven't had your period, it's advisable to consult a doctor.
In clinical trials involving urine samples from women at an early stage of pregnancy, the Clearblue PLUS pregnancy test gave the following results: the test was positive ("Pregnant" result) for 56% of women who took it 4 days before their expected menstrual period, 88% of women 3 days before, 97% of women 2 days before and 98% of women 1 day before.
