Instructions for use Freestyle Libre 2 Blood glucose sensor

1- Prepare the skin: clean the insertion site with the alcohol wipe included in the kit and let it dry in the open air.

2- Prepare the sensor: open the pack by removing the cover. Unscrew the cap of the sensor applicator. Align the black line on the sensor applicator with the line on the pack. Press down firmly. Remove the sensor applicator from the sensor pack.

3- Apply the sensor: Place the applicator over the cleaned area. Push firmly to apply the sensor. Gently remove the applicator from the arm. Make sure the sensor is secure. Smooth the outline of the sensor to increase adhesion.

4- Activate the sensor: turn on the meter. Press on "Start a new sensor". Keep the reader within 4 cm of the sensor. If the sounds are activated, the player will beep when the sensor has been activated. After 60 minutes, the sensor can be used to check the glucose level.

The patient should also be informed that the FreeStyle Libre system results are less reliable on the first day of application.

60 minutes after the new sensor is applied, the sensor can be scanned with the meter to check glucose levels anytime, anywhere, with discretion.

5- "Scan" to check glucose level: Turn on the meter. The "Check Glucose" icon appears on the screen. Hold the meter within 4 cm of the sensor to scan it (even through clothing). Repeat the operation as many times as necessary. The sensor has an 8 hour buffer memory. In case of more spaced scan (i.e. higher than 8 hours) the first data will be lost.

6- Remove the sensor after 14 days. The reader will tell the user when it is time to remove and replace the sensor. The sensor is easy to remove. Simply pull the edge of the adhesive that attaches the sensor to the skin. Slowly peel it away from the skin in one motion.

7- The removed sensor (and sensor applicator) should be disposed of in accordance with all applicable local regulations. Contact Customer Service for more information on proper disposal of system components.

The sensor will automatically shut off after 14 days of use, so you will need to replace it.
