Indications Paracetamol Sandoz 500 mg 16 capsules

This medication contains paracetamol.

It is indicated in case of pain and/or fever such as headaches, flu, dental pain, aches, painful periods.

This presentation is reserved for adults and children from 27 kg (from about 8 years old): read carefully Dosage.

For children with a different weight, there are other presentations of paracetamol: ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Dosage

The dosage of paracetamol depends on the child's weight; the ages are given for information purposes.

If you do not know your child's weight, you should weigh your child to determine the best dose.

Paracetamol is available in many dosages, allowing the treatment to be adapted to each child's weight.

The recommended daily dose of paracetamol is about 60 mg/kg/day, divided into 4 or 6 doses, i.e. about 15 mg/kg every 6 hours or 10 mg/kg every 4 hours.

This presentation is reserved for adults and children weighing 27 kg or more (from about 8 years of age).

For children weighing between 27 and 40 kg (approximately 8 to 13 years), the dosage is 1 capsule at 500 mg per dose, to be repeated if necessary after 6 hours, without exceeding 4 capsules per day.

For children weighing between 41 and 50 kg (approximately 12 to 15 years), the dosage is 1 capsule at 500 mg per dose, to be renewed if necessary after 4 hours, without exceeding 6 capsules per day.

For adults and children weighing more than 50 kg (from about 15 years old), the usual dosage is 1 to 2 capsules of 500 mg per dose, depending on the intensity of the pain, to be repeated if necessary after at least 4 hours.

It is generally not necessary to exceed 3 g of paracetamol per day, i.e. 6 capsules per day.

However, in case of more intense pain and on the advice of your doctor, the total dose can be increased up to 4 g per day, or 8 capsules per day.

However:

doses above 3 g of paracetamol per day require medical advice.

NEVER TAKE MORE THAN 4 GRAMS OF PARACETAMOL PER DAY (taking into account all medications containing paracetamol in their formula).

Always take at least 4 hours apart.

In cases of severe kidney disease (severe renal failure), the doses should be taken 8 hours apart and the total dose should not exceed 3 tablets per day (3 g).

If you feel that the effect of PARACETAMOL SANDOZ 500 mg, capsule is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

How to take it

Take by mouth.

The capsules should be swallowed as they are with a drink (for example: water, milk, fruit juice).

Taking capsules is contraindicated in children under 6 years of age because they may swallow them wrongly and choke. Use another form.

In addition, if your child has a fever of more than 38.5°C, you can improve the effectiveness of the drug treatment by

Frequency of administration

Systematic administration avoids oscillations of pain or fever.

In children, they must be regularly spaced, including at night, preferably 6 hours apart, and at least 4 hours apart.

Never take PARACETAMOL SANDOZ 500 mg, capsule in the following cases:

- known allergy to paracetamol or to any of the other components of this medication (see composition),

- severe liver disease.

Special warnings

In case of overdose or if you take too much by mistake, consult your doctor immediately.

This medicine contains paracetamol. Other medicines contain paracetamol. Do not combine them, so as not to exceed the recommended daily dose (see Dosage).

Taking capsules is contraindicated in children under 6 years old because they may swallow them wrongly and choke. Use another form.

Precautions for use

If the pain persists for more than 5 days, or the fever for more than 3 days, or in case of insufficient efficacy or any other sign, do not continue the treatment without the advice of your doctor.

In case of serious liver or kidney disease, it is necessary to consult your doctor before taking paracetamol.
