Description

This medication is indicated for mild sore throat without fever.

Pharmacotherapeutic class :

  • This drug belongs to the class of enzymes for anti-inflammatory purposes.

Precautions and warnings :

  • If your doctor has informed you of an intolerance to certain sugars, contact him/her before taking this medication.
  • Take care with ALFA-AMYLASE BIOGARAN CONSEIL 200 U.CEIP-ml, syrup:

    Special warnings
    The use of this medicine is not recommended in patients with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency (rare hereditary diseases).
    This medicine contains 3.2 g of sucrose per teaspoon (5 ml) and 9.6 g of sucrose per tablespoon (15 ml), which should be taken into account in the daily diet in case of a low sugar diet or diabetes.
    This medicine contains sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E219) and sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E217) and may cause allergic reactions

    Precautions for use
    In the event of the occurrence of general signs of infection such as:
    - high fever (> 38.5°C) and persistent (more than 3 days),
    - appearance of other symptoms such as: sore throat or severe headache, nausea, vomiting, ear pain or discharge, facial pain,
    - persistence of symptoms without improvement, beyond 5 days.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

  • Pregnancy
    It is preferable not to use this medicine during pregnancy.
    If you discover that you are pregnant during treatment, consult your doctor, as only he or she can judge whether it is necessary to continue the treatment.
    In general, it is advisable, during pregnancy and when breast-feeding, to always ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

    The use of this medicine should be avoided during breast-feeding.

Composition :

Excipients with a known effect: Glucose,
Active ingredients:
Alfa amylase ....................................................... 200 CEIP* units
For 1 ml.
*That is 142.86 European Pharmacopoeia units per ml of syrup.

Other substances: Sucrose, glycerol, sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate, tangerine essential oil, citric acid monohydrate and purified water.

Directions for use:

  • Method of administration
    Oral.

    Dosage
    Adult: 1 tablespoon (15 ml), 3 times daily.
    Child over 3 years (over 15 kg): 2 teaspoons (10 ml), 3 times daily.
    Infant and child from 6 months to 3 years (7 kg to 15 kg): 1 teaspoon (5 ml), 3 times a day.

    Duration of treatment
    Do not prolong treatment beyond 5 days without medical advice.
    In the absence of improvement or in the event of persistent symptoms, seek medical advice.

In case of overdose:

  • If you have taken more ALFA-AMYLASE BIOGARAN CONSEIL 200 U.CEIP-ml, syrup than you should have:
    Consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

If you miss one or more doses :

  • If you forget to take ALFA-AMYLASE BIOGARAN CONSEIL 200 U.CEIP-ml, syrup:
    Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you forgot to take.

Storage conditions :

  • Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.

Contraindications:

  • Never take ALFA-AMYLASE BIOGARAN CONSEIL 200 U.CEIP-ml, syrup in the following cases:
    history of allergy to alfa-amylase or to any of the components of the solution, especially parabens. It is preferable not to use this medication during pregnancy.

Possible interactions:

  • If you are taking or have recently taken any other medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your doctor or pharmacist

Side effects:

Like all medicines, ALFA-AMYLASE BIOGARAN CONSEIL 200 U.CEIP-ml, syrup is likely to have side effects, although not everyone is subject to them:
- rare allergic reactions, generally cutaneous, in particular urticaria and swelling of the face and neck with respiratory discomfort (angioedema), in this case, stop the treatment
