Indications
In dogs and cats: Treatment of infestations by the following adult parasites: Toxocara canis and cati; Toxascaris leonina.
Properties
Piperazine is a nematodifuge. It acts by causing a reversible paralysis of nematodes by inhibiting the effects of acetylcholine, which leads to their removal from the digestive wall and their elimination. After oral administration, piperazine is rapidly absorbed. The majority of piperazine is eliminated unchanged, mainly via the urine.
Dosage and directions for use
Route of administration: oral.
80 mg of piperazine per kg of body weight, i.e. 7 ml of solution per kg, twice at 24-hour intervals (i.e. two consecutive days). Repeat in puppies and kittens after 3 weeks. You can refer to the deworming calendar.
Undesirable effects
Some cases of vomiting, diarrhea and transient ataxia in dogs and cats.

Special precautions for animals
In puppies and kittens, the body weight should be assessed as accurately as possible before calculating the dose.
Special precautions for the person administering the veterinary drug to animals
In case of accidental ingestion, consult a physician.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Studies in rats have not shown a teratogenic effect.
In the absence of studies in the target species, the use of the medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation will depend on the assessment of the risk/benefit ratio by the veterinarian.
Drug interactions and other
Do not use simultaneously with pyrantel (Ascatene) and morantel as the actions of these two products cancel each other out.
Overdose
Vomiting, diarrhea, ataxia in dogs and cats.
Remarks
