The tablets should be chewed very carefully.

The sachet should be kneaded before opening, and the bottle shaken vigorously before each use.

Usual dosage :

Tablet:

  • Adult and child over 12 years: 1 tablet, 3 or 4 times daily.

Drinkable suspensions:

  • Adult: 1 sachet or 2 teaspoons of drinkable suspension, 3 or 4 times daily.

  • Child from 18 months to 15 years: 1 teaspoon after each of the 4 meals.

  • Infant from 4 to 18 months: 2.5 ml or 1/2 teaspoon after each of the 4 meals.

  • Infant from 2 to 4 months: 2 ml after each of the 5 meals.

  • Infant from 1 to 2 months: 1.5 ml after each of the 5 meals.

  • Newborns aged 0 to 1 month: 1 ml after each of the 6 meals.

In children, the drinkable suspension for infants (supplied with a pipette) is more suitable, but the other drinkable suspensions can also be used because their concentrations are identical.

Advice

It is advisable to divide the meals, to avoid bending over, to avoid lying down after meals and to wear tight clothes. Raising the head of the bed is recommended.

If you are a smoker, continued smoking is a major hindrance to treatment; nicotine increases gastric acidity and reduces the effectiveness of the muscle that closes the junction between the esophagus and the stomach.

The drinkable suspension should be kept away from heat but should not be put in the refrigerator.

Infant suspension should not be kept for more than 30 days after opening.

Possible side effects of GAVISCON

In case of prolonged use of the oral solution or sachets, at high doses: excess calcium in the blood, renal failure.
