HEXOMEDINE 1.5 % TRANSCUTANEOUS 45 ML

Transcutaneous Hexomedin:
Solution at 1.5 °/o for local application: 45 ml bottle.

COMPOSITION

Transcutaneous Hexomedin:
per vial: Hexamidine (INN) diistionate 67.50 mg

Excipients: propylene glycol, methylal, nonoxynol, 96.5° ethyl alcohol, purified water.

INDICATIONS

Adjunctive treatment of skin disorders that are primarily bacterial or susceptible to superinfection.

Note: Antiseptic agents are not sterilising. They temporarily reduce the number of microorganisms.

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

Method of Administration: Dermal route.

Hexomedin: Gel: 2 to 3 applications per day in a thin layer in the open air or in a thick layer under a protective dressing.

Posology Use undiluted twice a day as a dabbing or local bath.

In nail and periungual infections, transcutaneous Hexomedin can be used: either as a short wet dressing (30 to 45 minutes), or as a 1 to 3 minute bath (the wide-mouthed bottle is designed for this use; in this case, the solution must not be used for any other antiseptic purpose, nor must the bottle be kept after use).

Rinsing after application is not necessary. Close the bottle tightly.

Duration of use after opening: 15 days if used under hygienic conditions (the product is placed on a sterile compress before application to the area to be treated)

5 days maximum, if the part to be treated is immersed in the bottle (local baths for a nail disease).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to hexamidine or to the chemical class of diamidines, or to any of the components

This preparation should not be used for: antisepsis before sampling (puncture and/or injection), any invasive procedure requiring surgical antisepsis (lumbar puncture, central venous line, etc.), disinfection of medical and surgical equipment.

Do not apply to mucous membranes. Do not use Hexomedin transcutaneous on open wounds.

WARNINGS and PRECAUTIONS

Although transcutaneous resorption is very low, the risk of systemic effects cannot be excluded. Systemic effects are all the more to be feared when the antiseptic is used on a large surface, under an occlusive dressing, on injured skin (especially burns), on mucous membranes, on the skin of premature babies or infants (because of the surface/weight ratio and the occlusive effect of the diapers at the seat)

Microbial contamination is possible as soon as the packaging of an antiseptic preparation is opened. Risk of sensitization to hexamidine

Hexomedin solutions: take care not to keep an opened bottle of antiseptic too long. Transcutaneous Hexomedin: this drug contains propylene glycol and may cause skin irritation.

INTERACTIONS

Drug Interactions:

Given the possible interference (antagonism, inactivation ...), the simultaneous or successive use of antiseptics should be avoided.

FERTILITY / PREGNANCY / LACTATION

To be used with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women, in the absence of usable clinical data.
