Indications:
Tardyferon B9 tablet is a drug indicated as a preventive treatment of iron and folic acid deficiency during pregnancy, when dietary intake is not sufficient
It should not be used in the primary prevention of embryonic tube closure anomalies (AFTN: sspina bifida ...).

Description:
Its active ingredients are (for one film-coated tablet)
Iron 50.0 mg
As dried ferrous sulphate 154.530 mg
Folic acid (expressed as anhydrous) 0.35 mg
The other components of its formula are: maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, triethyl citrate, talc, ammoniomethacrylate copolymer type B (Eudragit RS 30D) and type A (Eudragit RL 30D), glycerol dibehenate.
Film coating: Titanium dioxide (E171), Sepifilm LP010 (hypromellose, microcrystalline celulose, stearic acid), iron oxide yellow, iron oxide red, triethyl citrate.
DOSAGE:
The generally recommended dosage is 1 tablet per day, i.e. 50 mg of elemental iron and 350 µg of folic acid during the last 2 trimesters of pregnancy (or from the 4th month)
The tablet is to be swallowed whole and should not be sucked, chewed or held in the mouth. It should be taken with a glass of water, before or during meals, depending on digestive tolerance
In all cases, it is important to strictly adhere to the prescription provided by your doctor regarding dosage and duration of treatment
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
This medication should not be used in case of allergy to any of its components, or iron overload
The tablets should not be sucked, chewed or held in the mouth, but swallowed directly with a glass of water, because of the risk of tooth discolouration and damage (ulceration) to the oral wall
It is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other treatment you are taking to avoid possible interactions between several medicines, especially injectable iron salts
Tardyferon B9 tablet can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, under normal conditions of use
