1. WHEN SHOULD I USE STRUCTUM 500 mg, capsule?

Pharmacotherapeutic class

This medicine contains chondroitin sulphate. STRUCTUM is an anti-arthritis drug. Osteoarthritis is a disease caused by wear and tear of cartilage.

Therapeutic indications

STRUCTUM is used in adults (over 15 years of age) for the treatment of pain and functional discomfort in osteoarthritis of the knee and hip. This drug has a slow onset of action, delayed by about 2 months, and its effect may persist after treatment has been discontinued.

Contraindications

Never use STRUCTUM:

• - If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance (chondroitin) or to any of the components contained in this medicine. For a list of ingredients, see section 6.
• - In children under 15 years of age.

3. HOW TO TAKE STRUCTUM 500 mg, capsule?

For adults only (over 15 years of age).

To be taken orally.

The capsules should be swallowed as they are with a large glass of water.

1 capsule at 500 mg, twice a day or 1 g per day.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Instructions in case of missed dose(s)

If you forget to take STRUCTUM 500 mg, capsule:

Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose you forgot to take.

4. WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

Description of side effects

Like all medicines, STRUCTUM 500 mg, capsule is likely to have side effects, although not everyone is susceptible.

• - Allergic skin reactions such as redness, hives, eczema, rash, whether or not associated with itching and/or swelling, may occur.

In this case, you should immediately stop the treatment and inform your doctor.

• - During treatment, it is possible that digestive problems such as nausea and vomiting may occur.

In all these cases, you should inform your doctor.

If you notice any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, or if any side effects become serious, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.

5. HOW DO I USE STRUCTUM 500 mg, capsule?

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Expiry date: Do not use after the expiry date on the box.

The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

Storage conditions: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.

If necessary, warnings against certain visible signs of deterioration

Do not use STRUCTUM 500 mg, capsule, if you notice any visible signs of deterioration of the product.

Do not dispose of any medication down the drain or in your regular garbage. Ask your pharmacist to dispose of any medication you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
