When is KARDÉGIC prescribed?

This medicine contains aspirin, which has, among other properties, the ability to thin the blood. This effect lasts 4 to 8 days after stopping the treatment.

It is used to prevent recurrences of cardiovascular diseases caused by a blood clot in an artery (myocardial infarction, stroke).

Contraindications of the drug KARDÉGIC

This medicine should not be used in the following cases:

  • allergy to salicylates or NSAIDs,

  • ulcer of the stomach or duodenum,

  • bleeding or risk of bleeding,

  • pregnancy: from the 6th month or, if taken for a long time, at any time during pregnancy.

Warning

Aspirin is not a harmless drug. Only your doctor can decide if taking it for a long time is justified by your health condition.

Precautions are necessary in case of a history of stomach or duodenal ulcer, even old, asthma, gout, renal insufficiency, and in women who wear an IUD.

Aspirin may increase the duration or amount of bleeding during menstruation.

Avoid taking this medication during the week before tooth extraction or surgery: increased risk of bleeding.

Interactions of KARDÉGIC with other drugs

This medication may interact with other drugs, including:

  • anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents(PLAVIX...): increased risk of bleeding;

  • medicines containing benzbromarone or methotrexate.

Also inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking a corticosteroid or a drug containing pentoxifylline or interferon alfa.

Fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy:

Adverse effects on the mother and the unborn child have been demonstrated when aspirin, like other NSAIDs, is used during the last 4 months of pregnancy; the risk exists even with a single intake and even if the pregnancy is full term.

Therefore, except in very specific medical situations, aspirin can only be used on an occasional basis during the first 5 months, and its use is contraindicated from the 6th month.

Breastfeeding:

This drug passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.

Directions for use and dosage of KARDÉGIC

The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in a glass of water.

This medicine can be taken before, during or between meals, in one daily dose.

Usual dosage :

  • Adult:

    • Treatment of the acute phase of myocardial infarction or stroke: 1 sachet of KARDÉGIC 160 mg or 300 mg per day.

    • Prevention in cardiology: 1 sachet of KARDÉGIC 75 mg or 160 mg or 300 mg per day.

    • Stroke prevention: 1 sachet of KARDÉGIC 160 mg or 300 mg per day. Higher doses are necessary in some cases.

Advice

Regular use of this medication does not contraindicate the occasional use of a higher dose of aspirin, for example, for a headache or fever.

Possible side effects of KARDÉGIC

Gastritis, abdominal pain, bleeding from the nose or gums.

Rare and sometimes serious:

  • bleeding of the digestive tract: bloody vomiting, black stools, or more often imperceptible blood loss, responsible for the progressive appearance of anemia;

  • allergic accidents: urticaria, oedema, asthma.
