Contraindications of the medication IBUPROFEN SANDOZ 200 mg

This drug should not be used in the following cases:

Interactions of IBUPROFEN SANDOZ 200 mg with other substances

This drug may interact with other drugs, including:
  • aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs): risk of increased adverse effects;

  • anticoagulants and platelet aggregation inhibitors(PLAVIX...): increased risk of bleeding;

  • lithium(TERALITHE): increase in blood lithium levels;

  • methotrexate.

Also inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking a diuretic, anenzyme conversion inhibitor, an angiotensin II inhibitor, a beta-blocker or a medicine containing cyclosporine.

Fertility, Pregnancy and Lactation

Pregnancy:

Adverse effects on the unborn child have been demonstrated when NSAIDs are used during the last 4 months of pregnancy; the risk exists even with a single dose and even if the pregnancy is full term. The use of this drug is contraindicated during this period.

During the first 5 months, the effect of this drug is not well known: only your doctor can assess the possible risk of its use in your case.

Breastfeeding:

Ibuprofen passes weakly into breast milk: nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, it is not recommended during breastfeeding.

Instructions for use and dosage of IBUPROFEN SANDOZ 200 mg

In order to limit the occurrence of digestive disorders, this medicine can be taken with meals. However, in case of acute pain, taking it on an empty stomach will ensure a faster effect.

The tablets are not suitable for children under 6 years of age. Indeed, they risk obstructing the airways if the child swallows badly and the tablet passes into the trachea (false route).

Usual dosage :

  • Adult and child over 30 kg (approximately over 11 years): 1 or 2 tablets, to be repeated if necessary every 6 hours. Do not exceed 6 tablets per day.

  • Children from 20 to 30 kg (about 6 to 11 years): 1 tablet, repeated if necessary every 6 hours. Do not exceed 3 tablets per day.

In the absence of medical advice, the duration of treatment should be limited to 5 days in case of pain and 3 days in case of fever.
