IPRAFEINE contains two active ingredients: ibuprofen and caffeine. Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs provide relief by altering the way the body reacts to pain and fever.
Caffeine belongs to a group of medicines called stimulants.
IPRAFEINE is used for theshort-term treatment of acute pain of moderate severity.
IPRAFEINE is only indicated for use in adults.
You should contact your doctor if you do not feel any improvement or if your condition worsens after 3 days of treatment.
The active ingredients are ibuprofen and caffeine.
Each film-coated tablet contains 400 mg ibuprofen and 100 mg caffeine.
The other ingredients are:
Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate.
Film coating: hypromellose, hyprolose, macrogol 6000, talcum powder, titanium dioxide (E171)
Please always take this medicine exactly as instructed in this leaflet or by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
The recommended dose is:
Adults:
Initial dose: take 1 tablet (400 mg ibuprofen and 100 mg caffeine). If necessary, take an additional dose (one tablet) but do not exceed a total dose of 1200 mg ibuprofen and 300 mg caffeine (3 tablets) in a 24-hour period. The interval between doses should be at least 6 hours.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak.
Take by mouth.
Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.
The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 days.
IPRAFEINE is not recommended for mild pain or when treatment exceeds 3 days. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if the pain persists.
Never take IPRAFEINE:
- if you are allergic to ibuprofen, caffeine or any of the other components contained in this medicine (mentioned in section 6);
- if you have ever had difficulty breathing, asthma, runny nose, edema or hives after using acetylsalicylic acid or other similar painkillers (NSAIDs);
- if you have (or have had at least two episodes of) a stomach ulcer or bleeding in your stomach;
- if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation from previous NSAID therapy;
- if you have severe liver, kidney or heart failure;
- if you have a brain bleed or other active bleeding injury;
- if you have blood production disorders;
- if you have severe dehydration (caused by vomiting, diarrhea or inadequate fluid intake);
- if you are in your third trimester of pregnancy.
Do not use IPRAFEINE in children and adolescents under the age of 18.
