This medicine is recommended for occasional insomnia in adults.

Warnings and precautions Donormyl 15 mg

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking DONORMYL 15 mg, scored effervescent tablet.

Insomnia can have various causes that do not necessarily require medication.

This drug should be used with caution in the elderly, because of the risk of cognitive impairment, drowsiness, slow response, and/or dizziness/lightheadedness which may lead to falls (e.g., when getting up at night), often with serious consequences in this population.

Doxylamine succinate, like any hypnotic or sedative, may aggravate pre-existing sleep apnea syndrome (pauses in breathing during sleep).

Treatment should not exceed 5 days. Be alert to any signs of abuse or dependence on this treatment. If you have substance use disorders (alcohol, medication or other), DONORMYL should not be used.

Alcohol is not recommended during treatment.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.

In case of long-term liver or kidney disease, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR so that he can adapt the dosage.

Other medicines and DONORMYL 15 mg, scored effervescent tablet

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or may take any other medicines.

This medicine contains an antihistamine, doxylamine.

Other medicines contain it. Do not combine them, so as not to exceed the maximum recommended dose (see section 3 "How to take DONORMYL 15 mg, scored effervescent tablet").

This medicine should not be used in combination with sodium oxybate.

The use of alcohol during this treatment is not recommended.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or are planning a pregnancy, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medication.

This medication, under normal conditions of use, can be used during pregnancy. However, you should always ask your doctor's advice before using it and never exceed the recommended dose.

It is possible that this medication is passed on in breast milk. Given its sedative or exciting properties that could affect your child (lethargy, loss of energy, or insomnia), this medication is not recommended when breastfeeding.

Driving vehicles and using machines

Attention is drawn to the daytime drowsiness and reduced alertness associated with the use of this drug.

The association with other sedative drugs, with sodium oxybate, and of course with alcohol or drugs containing alcohol, is not recommended when driving a car or using machines.

If the duration of sleep is insufficient, the risk of decreased alertness is further increased.

DONORMYL 15 mg, scored effervescent tablet contains sodium and sodium benzoate (E211).

This medication contains 563 mg of sodium (the main component of table salt) per effervescent tablet. This is equivalent to 28.15% of the recommended maximum daily intake of sodium for an adult. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you need one or more effervescent tablets daily for an extended period of time, especially if you are on a low salt (sodium) diet.

This medication contains 75 mg of sodium benzoate (E211) per effervescent tablet.

Dosage Donormyl 15 mg: FOR ADULTS ONLY.

The recommended dosage is ½ to 1 tablet per day in adults.

In adults, the dosage may be increased to 2 tablets per day if necessary.

In the elderly, renal or hepatically impaired, the lower dosage is recommended.

Mode and route of administration: Oral.

Dissolve the tablet in a glass of water.

Frequency and timing of administration

One dose per day, in the evening, 15 to 30 minutes before bedtime.

Duration of treatment : The duration of treatment is 2 to 5 days.

Do not exceed 5 days of treatment without the advice of your doctor.

If you have taken more DONORMYL 15 mg, scored effervescent tablet than you should have

Consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

If you forget to take DONORMYL 15 mg, scored effervescent tablet

Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you forgot to take.

Take your next dose at the usual time.

If you stop taking DONORMYL 15 mg scored effervescent tablet: Not applicable.
